"DJ Edgar Hoover makes mashups for people that don’t like mashups because mashups are kind of dumb most of the time. Even the good ones are only good for a couple of listens before the “Oh check this out, it’s a guy rapping about drugs over a pretty song about love” feeling wears off. After that you’re left with a whatever song that is just two songs that you don’t care about laid on top of each other. DJ Edgar Hoover goes about it in a better way. There are moments in his songs that make me want to laugh, not because what I am listening to is funny, but because it’s so bizarre and makes so much sense. It’s difficult to articulate. He puts musical components together that seem to only have the fact that they are parts of already completed songs in common. It’s not just two songs that are sort of the same tempo layered on top of each other though. There is always a weird thread that connects them."
